Intermediate
The Montessori philosophy continues throughout the intermediate years, however the teaching style becomes more traditional.
Class sizes remain small with a maximum of 18 students per teacher, and the curriculum becomes more “teacher directed”.
In the intermediate years at Cornerstone, our educational approach evolves into a more traditional style, building upon the foundation set in our primary program. While we maintain our commitment to the Montessori philosophy, emphasizing manners, grace, courtesy, and hands-on learning projects, we also integrate regular technology use into our curriculum. Each student is provided with their own Chromebook, ensuring seamless integration of digital tools across various academic subjects. Additionally, our intermediate students receive daily homework, reinforcing the concepts learned in class and promoting consistent academic growth. For those students who excel academically, we continue to offer a curriculum that challenges and engages them beyond the standard grade level expectations.
Students in the Cornerstone intermediate program enjoy a diverse array of field trips and special events throughout the school year. These experiences not only enrich their education but also contribute to their sense of enjoyment and belonging at school. Our students relish their time at Cornerstone, fostering a sense of leadership and community within our campus.
